The Town regulates the placement of sheds in residential districts. Additional Accessory Use Regulations can be found in Section 703 of the Zoning Ordinance.
When applying for a Shed Permit in the E-Permitting Portal select a Building Permit. On the application you can list the description of work as a Shed along with the size/dimensions.
General provisions
No shed can be placed in the front yard or closer than 10 feet to the principal building.
Shed Regulations by Size
Per Zoning Regulations
- All accessory Structures and Sheds must meet Zoning Regulations.
- Greater than 64 sqft: Building Permit Required provided with site plan which shows the location, size and setback of all structures on the lot. This is necessary to compute total lot coverage requirements and confirm required setbacks under the Zoning Ordinance.
- Less than 150sqft: The Accessory Structure having 150 square feet or less floor area with a maximum height of 15 feet shall be permitted to be placed no closer than 5 feet to any lot line in the required rear yard. And not to exceed maximum percentage of lot coverage per Zoning District.
- Greater than 150 sqft: The shed must meet residential Zoning District Dimensional Regulations Per 603 or 604 concerning Accessory Buildings setbacks and lot coverage.
